Edenred is compatible with all payment terminals available on the market thanks to the combination of Edenred and Mastercard technologies, both in-store (physical and mobile) and on all Luxembourg e-commerce websites. Signing a contract with Edenred is all that is required to join the network.
Why are there two schemes (Edenred & Mastercard)?
This innovation allows some merchants who were previously unable to accept Edenred (because of their terminal) to accept it today.
It also meets users’ expectations, as they want to use their Edenred card(s) with their smartphone, smartwatch, or mobile wallet. The historical Edenred scheme did not allow mobile payments with the Edenred card. Thanks to the Mastercard scheme, this functionality is now possible.
The two technologies coexist, but Edenred technology will always be used as a priority depending on the payment terminal and the payment method used by the customer.
What remains the same, regardless of the scheme used?
- Your business continues to be promoted within the Edenred network.
- Transactions remain secure and are validated by Edenred.
- The customer pays as usual: Edenred handles the technical complexity.
- The contractual terms remain unchanged.
- Edenred service fee remain the same.
What changes when the transaction is processed through the Mastercard scheme?
A new party becomes involved: your acquirer. The process then becomes:
- Edenred validates the transaction.
- Your acquirer reimburses you, according to your contract.
- Edenred then sends you a separate invoice for the service fee.
In summary: Reimbursement is made by the acquirer (not by Edenred). Edenred service fee are invoiced separately and are not deducted from the reimbursement.
